Two Louisville development projects one year later.

These two projects were announced this time last year — what’s their status?

Louisville is always growing and changing, with new developments announced all the time. But it can be hard to keep up with these projects, especially since the big ones can take years to get off the ground. Today we’re taking a look back at two major projects to see how they’re stacking up.

Downtown Louisville Building Conversion Program

It’s been one year since Mayor Greenberg announced this initiative to convert empty office buildings to housing. The first of these projects was approved over the summer from a pool of 19 applicants. It’s expected to be complete in late 2027. Four more projects were finalists at the time, but no progress has been announced since then.

  • Fiscal Court by Weyland Ventures ($27.9 million, approved)
  • Liminal by Antecedent Development ($37.25 million, finalist)
  • Marion E. Taylor Building (finalist)
  • Hubbuch Building (finalist)
  • Kentucky Life Building, Thrash Group (finalist)

Slugger Field Development

A sports entertainment complex was proposed last year for Slugger Field, including the addition of residential and retail space, a hotel, and offices. Mayor Greenberg’s budget proposal for 2025-2026 included infrastructure improvements for the area around the stadium, and the final budget has two line items related to the project:

  • A $2.5 million capital project to improve sidewalks, lighting, and green spaces around the stadium.
  • A $215,000 capital project to improve the floodgate near the stadium
