The biggest day in vinyl is about to spin up this Saturday, April 12.

For almost 20 years, Record Store Day (RSD) has been a celebration of independent record stores, the artists who make the music, and the fans who collect it.

Here’s how you can celebrate Record Store Day in LOU this year:

Better Days Records | This Barret Avenue shop will open at 8 a.m. to get the party started bright and early. Stop by for exclusive releases (Swifties, take note), plus live music throughout the day. Owner Ben Jones said he expects over a hundred people to be lined up when the store opens — so don’t be late.

He has also offered the store’s parking lot + surrounds to any food trucks that have lost a weekend of business due to Thunder Over Louisville’s cancellation, free of charge.

Guest Room Records | Frankfort Avenue’s record shop will open its doors at 9 a.m. In addition to the 300+ Record Store Day releases, the shop will hold giveaways for Bourbon & Beyond passes and a new turntable. As if that’s not enough, all non-RSD merchandise will be 10% off, and the shop will be adding a big new drop of used vinyl to its collection.

Bonus: Surface Noise on Baxter Avenue isn’t participating in Record Store Day this year, but its ongoing 20% off sale is still running. The discount applies to everything priced $6 and under — including dollar records — but owner Brett Ralph said there may be some bonus deals running on Saturday.
