Hey LOU, Katie + Sarah here. Between the 2 of us, we get the privilege of sharing daily news with 7,670 readers in Louisville — both through our newsletter + social feeds.

We’ve got some new faces at LOUtoday, so you can consider this our official meet-cute (no cinematic, albeit awkward, coffee spill bump-ins required). 😘

Meet Katie 👋

Q: If you were taking someone on a tour around LOU, where are the three places you’re going?

A: Selfishly I’d begin the tour at Zanzabar to play pinball, then hit Big Al’s Beeritaville for a fried bologna sandwich + High Life’s, then round out the tour with a trip to The Speed Art Museum. Bonus if it’s a Sunday for free admission. 🖼️

Q: What were the last 3 things you did downtown?

A: I went to a Louisville Bats game on $1 hot dog night —Go hot dogs, uh, I mean Bats –, checked out the new Flamingo Lounge in the old Jimmy Can’t Dance + sang Cruisin’ at Noreabar karaoke bar. 🌭

Q: In your opinion, what is LOU’s unofficial mascot?

A: 100% the Pope Lick Monster. 👹

Meet Sarah 👋

Q: You can only choose 1 local restaurant menu to bring with you to a deserted island — which one is it + why?

A: Havana Rumba. I’m a fiend for Cuban food + find myself often fantasizing about their fried sweet plantains with a little pinch of salt on them. 😋

Q: If you could only write about 1 LOU-specific topic for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: Louisville’s arts and culture scene. My roots are in arts journalism + I absolutely adore the arts scene in this city. There are so many cool creators here, I’d never run out of things to write about. 🎨

Q: If you were taking someone on a tour around LOU, where are the three places you’re going?

A: We would definitely hit some distilleries on Whiskey Row + while we’re downtown we’ll get a late lunch at Mussel & Burger Bar to enjoy their amazing, gooey mac and cheese. Then, end the night with a concert at Waterfront Wednesday. 🥃
