Dwain Lee is back with a second book

“Sinner’s Prayer” is the sequel to last year’s “Plausible Deception.”

Lee says he thinks there will be at least one more Dan Randolph book in the series.

This time last year, I interviewed architect-turned-minister-turned mystery novelist Dwain Lee to talk about his debut book “Plausible Deception.” Now, his second book is about to hit shelves.

Like the book before it, “Sinner’s Prayer” follows a fictionalized version of Lee and his husband George Yu, a world-renowned violin maker. The first book was about a violin heist, but the second details the fallout of human remains being found underneath protagonist Dan Randolph’s church.

For Lee, this book is a way to investigate his own feelings as a Presbyterian minister nearing retirement — “the endgame of ministry,” as he puts it. But the musical themes from the first novel are still around. Lee had musicians select a track for each chapter, creating a soundtrack for the book you can listen to as you read.

Sinner’s Prayer” is available for preorder, and is slated to release Monday, April 6.
