Kids of all ages can play on Mulberry Orchard’s playground or visit the petting zoo.

As summer turns to fall, it’s hard to shake the urge to put on your best sweater, sip a warm mug of pumpkin spice something, and lose yourself in a corn maze.

If you’re feeling ready to take the fall, we’ve rounded up a guide to farm tours, corn mazes, and other autumnal activities to ring in the season.

Fun for the family

There’s a ‘lil something for everyone at Mulberry Orchard in Shelbyville, about 50 minutes from LOU. Younger autumn aficionados can play on the combine slides, hay ring monkey bars, and grain bin corn pit. Fall fans of all ages can explore a four-acre corn maze, plus a soy bean maze, or take a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. What’s more autumnal than that? Fall activities start Friday, Sept. 20 and run through Sunday, Nov. 3.

Action-packed autumn

Pumpkin patches and... paintball? Thomas Dairy Farm and Market in Cecilia, about an hour away, has all your autumnal staples like a corn pit, two corn mazes, and a hayride to the pumpkin patch. It also kicks things up a notch with paintball and dueling apple cannons.

If you’re looking to get a jump-start on the Halloween season, you can visit “The Woods,” a winding trail through abandoned buildings and haunted farm environs. Alternatively, hop on the zombie paintball ride and blast back at the monsters from the back of a moving trailer. Both events start Friday, Sept. 27 and run on Fridays and Saturdays only.

True fear

If you’re looking for something a little less cozy and a little more creepy, Field of Screams has you covered. This terrifying attraction in Brandenburg features a haunted “Hayride 2 Hell” through an old farm, plus a two-story haunted barn and a six-acre corn maze cut into a unique pattern each year. It’s open Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 26 from dusk until 1 a.m.
