If you have to go, you might as well do it in style. Cintas’ annual America’s Best Restroom contest is back. While none of LOU’s loos made the contender list, we won’t let our city’s best decorated bathrooms go to waste — because Derby City is flush with great restrooms.

Who will take the porcelain throne is up to you. So pull the lid up and have a seat. Here are the contenders for the best bathrooms in Derby City.

Hauck’s Corner, 1000 Goss Ave.
The two private restrooms inside this bar + grill are covered in gold mirrors from floor to ceiling, making these potties an optimal place to snap a selfie.

You might have to wait in a wee bit of line to use one of Hauck’s two bathrooms as people are often checking themselves out in the mirror-covered walls.

Hell or High Water Bar, 112 W. Washington St.
If you can figure out how to get into this downtown speakeasy, you’re one step closer to checking out the wallpaper in the bathroom. The Rorschach-eque pattern isn’t exactly what it appears to be...

The Merryweather, 110 Lydia St.
Once you go in, you might not come back out. The restrooms at this Schnitzelburg dive — which are each dedicated to different Louisvillans — are filled with little nuggets of bar culture, movie + music memorabilia, and a handwritten note or two. One even has a chalkboard.

Awry Brewing, 1025 Barret Ave.
This new Louisville brewery took things up a notch by having local artists paint each of its stalls with a different design.

Guacamole Modern Mexican, 900 E. Market St.

This NuLu restaurant put an ornate, red velvet chair in its latrine so guests can have a fancy seat while waiting in line. The walls are also covered in pink flowers.

Now that you’ve had a look around, cast your vote for the best seat in the house.
