A new start time plan passed by a narrow margin on Tuesday, May 7 during a JCPS Board of Education meeting. The board presented two scenarios, and passed the first option 4-3. The vote included a caveat that a new plan be presented for the 2025-2026 school year by December 1 of this year.

The new start time plan consolidates all JCPS schools into three start times: 7:30 a.m., 8:40 a.m., and 9:40 a.m. Option one was marginally less efficient than option two, but required fewer schools to change their start times.
