Okay, so it’s called Pix Shoes, but we promise it’s more than a discount shoe store.

Every year, colorful Derby hats bloom in the front windows like a spring bouquet — from wide mesh hats dotted with pink flowers to feather and tulle fascinators. So far this year, the family-owned-and-operated business has sold 2,000+ Derby fascinators and hats. And owner Carol Hampton will restock them up until the big race.

Pix, which has been around since 1942, is known for its affordable prices. A Derby hat here can cost anywhere from $40 to $200. Plus, while you’re shopping for fashionable headwear, you can pick up a matching pair of discount designer shoes to match.

Located at 201 S. Preston St. across from the Residence Inn by Marriott Louisville Downtown, Pix Shoes is open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
