Mid City Mall went on the market in 2024 after over 60 years in business. Now, the long-time owners are working with Georgia-based Branch Properties to redevelop the site with a focus on “neighborhood needs, public space and compatibility with the surrounding community.”

Here’s what the current proposal includes:

A rendering of a multiunit building with a green space outside.

The Highlands-Shelby Park Library is slated to return to this site with a public green space for community events.

The architecture is designed to echo the surrounding Highlands neighborhood, with small nods to buildings from up and down Bardstown Road.

Branch Properties is planning to hold more community engagement meetings as the project develops. The next will be at Gilda’s Club on Grinstead Drive at 8:30 a.m.

You can also follow along with the project on Facebook.
