While you might know them for scoring goals and dominating the field at Lynn Family Stadium, Racing Louisville FC players can also be found exploring our city. We caught up with three players to chat about their favorite local spots and how they spend their time outside of soccer.

Here’s what they had to say:

No. 9 Kayla Fischer, Midfielder

  • Outside of playing soccer, my favorite thing to do is: “Walks along the river.”
  • I love that Louisville: “Has so many good places to eat and everything is so close.”
  • My favorite local spot is: “Gralehaus. I get the breakfast sandwich with a biscuit and an iced honey bee latte.”

No. 2 Lauren Milliet, Defender

“I think it’s such a unique and underestimated city,” Defender Lauren Milliet says.

  • Outside of playing soccer, my favorite thing to do is: “Exploring the city and finding new trails to hike with my dogs. Turkey Run, Cherokee, and the Parklands are my go-to’s.”
  • I love that Louisville: “Is a ‘little big city’ with all the amenities of a larger city but the intimate feel of a small one. I love the culture and the food, and it feels like a home away from home.”
  • My favorite local spot is: “For coffee, I love all my normal staples: Heine Bros, Sunergos, and Quills, but I also I love Day’s. Normally, I order a half-sweet vanilla latte regardless of the coffee shop. I’m also a huge brunch gal, and some of my normal spots are Big Bad Breakfast, Con Huevos, and Payne Street Bake House — or Maya’s Bagels when I need a good bagel sammie. I also love Barn 8 (farm-to-table food with carrots to die for).”

No. 15 Julia Lester, Defender

You’ll most likely find defender Julia Lester enjoying the outdoors when she’s not on the field.

  • Outside of playing soccer, my favorite thing to do is: “I’m usually outside, whether that’s walking over the Big Four Bridge, sitting at Cherokee Park, or hanging out with friends.”
  • I love that Louisville: “Has a lot of different events that are brought to the city, and I love that they are open and inclusive to everyone.”
  • My favorite local spot: “Definitely Pregame for coffee and watching fútbol games. My order is a hazelnut cappuccino.”

Catch Kayla, Lauren, Julia, and the rest of Racing as they take on San Diego Wave FC on Friday, June 9 at 8 p.m. Score tickets.*
