Is table tennis having a moment? Try it for yourself in Louisville

Move aside pickleball, there’s a new racket sport in town.

The nation’s collective interest in table tennis exists in a strange time loop: once every four years, as the Summer Olympic Games roll around, interest in the sport spikes.

Now, with the success of “Marty Supreme,” the game is gaining attention again — no Summer Games required. If you want to get ahead of the curve, grab a paddle and head to one of these local spots:

  • The best part of a new hobby? Community. That’s what awaits at the Southern Indiana Table Tennis Club — the oldest club of its kind in the United States. Members meet regularly to play, socialize, and compete, and non-members can try it out for free.
  • Pickle & Pong has tables for hire by the hour, open play options, membership specials, and is open around the clock. It has pickleball, too.
  • The City of Louisville has ping-pong programming at Beechmont Community Center, offering drop-in classes for locals looking to learn the game and practice their skills.
