The Silver Dollar, including its outdoor patio, is listed at over 6,000 sqft.

The Silver Dollar, a nationally recognized restaurant and bar in the Clifton neighborhood, is up for sale.

Stylized after mid-century Southern California honky-tonks, the Silver Dollar serves up southern-style dishes, like hickory-smoked brisket + chili con frijoles. Plus, it has an expansive whiskey and bourbon selection — making good on the sign out front advertising, “whiskey by the drink.”

And its not just locals that love the place — in 2013, The Silver Dollar was named as one of the “10 Best Whiskey Bars in America ” by GQ.

The Silver Dollar by the numbers:

  • Opened: 2011
  • Address: 1761 Frankfort Ave.
  • Sqft: 6,000
  • Reported annual revenue: Between $2.6 and $2.75 million
  • Bourbons on menu: 300+

The honky-tonk whiskey atmosphere and stellar patio make this place great, but the building has a lot of character too. Built in 1890, the red-brick structure was formerly a firehouse named after Albert A. Stoll , a 19th-century lawyer and politician in Louisville, whose name still adorns the front entryway. Home to the Hook and Ladder Company No. 3, it was one of the oldest operating firehouses in the country when it closed in 2009 and is on the National Register of Historic Places .

The Silver Dollar occupies a buidling that formerly house a 19th century firehouse that’s on the National Register of Historic Places.
