Hey there, Derby City. Each day we get the privilege of kicking off our morning with you. We’re pen pals, friends, buddies — whatever you want to call us (consider this our formal invitation asking you to be ours), and we feel like we’ve really gotten to know one another.
So, we’re testing your knowledge. We’ve put together a LOU-specific game challenging you to get to know us a little more. The answer key is in The Wrap (but no peeking).
It’s a sunny and 70-degree day in Louisville. You’ll find LOUtoday editor (1) on Chik’n & Mi’s patio with a heaping plate of buttermilk biscuits, gravy + sausage (aka The Cure). LOUtoday editor (2) is likely walking onto the patio of Big Al’s Beeritaville to soak up the rays with a High Life and fried bologna sandwich in hand.
Turnstile is headlining at Old Forester’s Paristown Hall. LOUtoday editor (3) will be in the front row + bought her tickets months in advance. LOUtoday editor (4) has VIP passes to Bourbon & Beyond and is patiently awaiting the Pearl Jam performance on Sat., Sept. 17.
Two can keep a secret, but we’re letting you in on ours.
“Those mini Louisville Slugger bats — that we all have laying around somewhere — work excellent as an ice mallet for cocktails.” – LOUtoday editor (5)
“Quills Coffee’s version of the pumpkin spice latte — called The Lantern — is better than the Starbucks original. It has real pumpkin puree in it + isn’t too sweet.” – LOUtoday editor (6)
Talk about hair-raising thrills.
The craziest thing you might catch LOUtoday editor (7) is potentially trying to jump in the ring during Ohio Valley Wrestling’s televised matches every Thursday. Whereas LOUtoday editor (8) prefers to play it a little safer and gets plenty of kicks from attending events like Worldfest.
Our Events section keeps us busy. LOUtoday editor (9) is still hoping to see a Racing Louisville FC game — anyone free for the Sept. 16 game against the Orlando Pride? LOUtoday editor (10) already has sights set on the stein holding competition at German American Club’s Oktoberfest (Sat., Sept. 9-10) + the St. James Court Art Show at the end of the month.
If the weather plays nice, we’re taking the scenic route. LOUtoday editor (11) won’t say no to a windows down cruise along River Road listening to SG Lewis. LOUtoday editor (12) enjoys biking across the Big Four Bridge to New Albany, IN along the Ohio River Greenway — pit stop at Monnik Beer Company for lunch, of course.
