What if Louisville had a WNBA team?

The women’s basketball program at the University of Louisville is top-notch, but what would a WNBA expansion look like?

Louisville is a hot spot for sports. Think: Racing Louisville, the only top-tier professional sports team in Kentucky. And the University of Louisville women’s basketball team absolutely cooked in the NCAA Tournament.

This begs the question: What would a new WNBA franchise look like in Louisville? It’s possible — the WNBA is expanding quickly, and Mayor Craig Greenberg has expressed interest in the past. Plus, the KFC Yum! Center is right there.

So let’s build a make-believe team. What would the name be? The mascot? Which coach would you poach?
