How to spend Father’s Day in Louisville

Dear old dad deserves it.

An afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field might be just what the father figure in your life was looking for.

Don’t look now, but Father’s Day is less than a week away on Sunday, June 16. Need plans, LOU? We’ve got you.

Bonus: If you need a gift in a pinch, we’ve got you there too.

Brunch is best

What comes before anything? Breakfast? Let dad sleep in on Father’s Day, and go out to brunch instead.

Let’s go thrifting, Dad

Back in the 1990s, dad probably had a jacket or shirt featuring a fave band or sports team — “I think we lost it back in the move of 2003, or maybe your mother threw it away.” Take dad to a local thrift store or flea market to relive the good ol’ days. Who knows, you might find the original.

Take Dad out to the ballgame

You know the song, “Buy me dad some peanuts and crackerjacks...” The Louisville Bats are in town, hosting the St. Paul Saints at Louisville Slugger Field on Father’s Day. Root, root, root for the home team with the first pitch at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. Then, enjoy a post-game catch together on the field. If you need plans the rest of the week, your bases are covered — the six-game series starts on Tuesday, June 11.

Does dad prefer to kick it? LouCity is on the road Father’s Day weekend, but Racing Louisville is holding down the fort at Lynn Family Stadium on Saturday, June 15 at 12 p.m., hosting NJ-NY Gotham FC.

Let Dad kick back on a leisure cruise

Nothing says “dad” quite like a backyard barbecue, but what if the entire Ohio River was the backyard? The Belle of Louisville is offering a barbecue buffet during its leisure cruise on Father’s Day. Enjoy a plate of chicken or pork with green beans + potato salad and banana pudding for dessert, over a two-hour cruise aboard the paddle boat. Tickets are $74.99.
