See the future of Louisville’s Belvedere

In his State of the City address, Mayor Craig Greenberg unveiled new renderings of a proposed renovation to the Belvedere — no, a UFO didn’t land on I-64.

The renderings show a wavy, biophilic design featuring a mix of indoor and outdoor public space. London-based architecture firm Heatherwick Studio created the renderings, and the design has been led by a partner at the firm, Stuart Wood. Here are a few other projects the firm has worked on:

Greenberg did not offer any further details about a construction timeline.

Over the last several weeks, Greenberg and other Metro Government officials have heard public feedback on what Louisvillians would like to see for the 51-year-old public space, but their ears are still open. Fill out this public survey to offer your input on the design.

Greenberg also announced that Layla George will be leading the future of the Belvedere as the Project Executive. George previously worked as the President and CEO of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy, where she served from 2018 to 2024, as well as Director of Development for Louisville Public Media.
