It’s big, it’s bad, it’s breakfast, and it’s bringing back morning + lunchtime staples to Barrett Avenue.

Big Bad Breakfast — a southern restaurant chain — will officially open its first Kentucky location today at 7 a.m. in a legendary location, Lynn’s Paradise Cafe.

The infamous location at 984 Barrett Ave. has been vacant since January 2021 after Martin’s Bar-B-Que closed, but before Martin there was Lynn.

From 1991 to 2013, Lynn’s Paradise Cafe was a Louisville staple thanks to its quirky decor and food + features on the Food Network. Today, Big Bad Breakfast promises to restore the Baxter Avenue breakfy nostalgia with a similar eclectic atmosphere and southern-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes.

The culinary team headed by founder and James Beard award winning chef John Cuurence, incorporates local + regional ingredients into its dishes.

You’ll see the restaurant’s “Big Bad Specialities” on the menu like brandy spiked deep fried French toast, scratch made biscuits, and lunch counter chicken salad sandwich, but you’ll also find Louisville-centric dishes like the Big Bad Hot Brown and Kentucky coffee.

Inside Big Bad Breakfast there is a 16 person — technically 15, one is a horsefamous Louisvillians mural.

Outside on the building is a mural featuring a bright red kettle, a nod to the giant red kettle statue that was formerly in front of Lynn’s.

Big Bad Breakfast will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
