We’ve been exploring new gyms around town and were surprised to learn that downtown’s Wel at Humana is, well, not just for Humana. The gym and fitness center at 522 W. Main St. is open to the public, and it boasts features you can’t find anywhere else.

💪 Weightlifting and cardio equipment

The space’s main floor is chock full of dumbbells, kettlebells, treadmills, and elliptical machines. There’s even a Queenax, a functional and suspended body weight training system that’s used to improve endurance, strength, and core stability.

🧼 Spa-like amenities

In addition to a spin room, Wel’s bottom floor is home to saunas, a recovery room, and spacious locker rooms filled with just about anything a member might need to wrap up their workout and get on with their day — including hairspray, deodorant, dry shampoo, and hair ties. The lower level also features a meditation space with a technology-enabled meditation pod called a Somadome.
