Try This: The Louisville cocktail

The drink is made with five ingredients, including — of course — bourbon.

The original recipe for “The Louisville” featured Knob Creek bourbon as part of the competition, which was unveiled at Bourbon and Beyond in 2022.

The old fashioned might be the official cocktail of Louisville, but did you know that there’s a cocktail called The Louisville?

It’s true. The creation was crafted by SC Baker — a bartender at Expo (114 W. Main St.) — in 2022 as part of a competition at Bourbon and Beyond. The cocktail is, of course, still bourbon-based, but it has a much brighter and more refreshing taste than your typical old fashioned.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1.5 parts bourbon
  • .5 part Amaro
  • .75 parts dry Curacao
  • .75 parts lime juice
  • .25 part cinnamon syrup

Want to try it, but not sure of your bartending skills? The Louisville is currently on the menu at Epiphany (1525 Highland Ave.) and Bar Genevieve (730 E. Market St.).

Cheers to you, LOU.
