You asked us where you can volunteer around the holidays. ‘Tis the season for giving, after all. To reward your kind hearts, here’s a list of volunteer opportunities around Lou metro.

Holiday-specific 🦃

  • Bless the Block | Change Today, Change Tomorrow is seeking volunteers on Nov. 29-Dec.3 — from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Ten20 Brewing to help sort, assemble + distribute materials from its gifting program. Email here to participate.
  • Thanksgiving 2021 | Wayside Christian Mission needs volunteers to deliver food to homeless camps as it typically serves 3,000 meals on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Turkey – and Ham – Drive | Donate a turkey or ham to St. Vincent DePaul to help them prepare holiday meals to-go. Call or email Angela Leavell at (502) 301-8691 for more information.
  • Christmas Drive | Help Catholic Charities of Louisville get ahead of the holiday rush by donating new toys, writing + delivering Christmas cards, gifting meals, and volunteering at its soup kitchen.

Year-round 📅

  • Louisville Grows | This environmental nonprofit offers different ways to engage with urban forestry + agriculture all year long, including neighborhood tree planting, tree canvassing, greenhouse upkeep, and property maintenance.
  • Dare to Care | Help feed neighbors around Kentuckiana at one of Dare to Care’s 300+ food pantries. Every volunteer hour served with the organization will be matched with a $10 donation from the Anthem Foundation.
  • Kentucky Harvest | Pick up excess food and deliver it to those in the community in need. Kentucky Harvest delivers more than two million lbs of donated food to 86 organizations in Louisville + Southern Indiana each year.
