Louisville-based Papa Johns rebrands

Papa’s got a brand new bag. And it features a new logo, store designs + brand identity.

Papa Johns — now sans apostrophe “s” — has undergone a rebrand to signal to the world that the pizza company is ‘Hungry for Better,’ according to Chief Commercial Officer Max Wetzel. Papa Johns was founded in Jeffersonville, Indiana in 1984 + shortly after moved its headquarters to Louisville.

The brand redesign seeks to modernize the company while preserving its commitment to high-quality ingredients + delicious food, aka “Better Ingredients, Better Pizza.”

The redesigned restaurants feature an updated color palette inspired by pizza ingredients, an open floor plan, a drive-thru + a pick-up counter inside with a self-service option so customers can skip the line. Behind the counter, new modular workstations will allow team members to utilize the same space for different steps of the pizza-making process.

The beloved local pizza chain also switched up its logo as part of the rebrand. Its new design is bold + clean, featuring a custom font inspired by the way Papa Johns’ dough moves and stretches as team members craft its signature pies.

The company will implement a phased approach to updating its brand identity across its footprint. In the Louisville area alone Papa has 19 stores.

“This new experience is both a celebration of our tremendous momentum and a vision to inspire future growth,” Wetzel said in a news release.
