Get your pedals ready.

CycLOUvia was created to promote mental, physical, and emotional well-being, encourage eco-friendly transportation, and educate Louisville on alternative transportation options.

Let’s ride, Louisville.

This Sunday, Oct. 20, the section of Bardstown Road between Grinstead Drive and Douglass Boulevard in the Highlands will be closed to car traffic from 2 to 6 p.m. for Tom Owen CycLOUvia.

Bring your bike, skates, or just your walking shoes to explore the local businesses — free from motor vehicles. Temps are projected to rise throughout this week, so it should be a perfect weekend for a ride.

Car traffic will still be able to cross Bardstown Road at a controlled intersection with Eastern Parkway.

This CycLOUvia is named in celebration of Tom Owen, a former District 8 Councilman, cyclist advocate, and archivist + historian at UofL. To see more of Owen + learn about Louisville history, check out his bike-themed “Hometown Louisville” series.

Bonus: If you’re looking for fellow cyclists to join up with, check out our guide to local bike groups.
