Hotel Genevieve has been awarded the prestigious Michelin Key for the second year running.

What is the Michelin Key? It’s an award given to hotels, akin to the Michelin star for restaurants. It comes from the Michelin Guide, which is produced annually by the well-known tire manufacturer Michelin — you’ve probably heard of the company’s puffy mascot.

A hotel can be awarded one, two, or three Michelin Keys — Hotel Genevieve received one.

  • One Key: a very special stay
  • Two Keys: an exceptional stay
  • Three Keys: an extraordinary stay

Criteria for the Keys include excellence in design, architecture, service, and personality.

Last year, Hotel Genevieve was the only hotel in Kentucky to be awarded a Michelin Key. But this year, The Manchester in Lexington also scored a key.
