Peanut the wallaby

Meet the Louisville Zoo’s tiniest baby.

A very tiny wallaby sits in the grass and is offered a small flower by zookeeper who is out of the frame except for their hand.

Peanut the wallaby lives in the Australian section of the Louisville Zoo.

The Louisville Zoo posted its tiniest baby this week — Peanut the wallaby — and we’re beside ourselves with how cute he is.

While he’s still off-exhibit being nurtured by zookeepers, he will eventually join the rest of the full-sized animals in the Wallaroo Walkabout.

DYK: The main difference between a wallaby and a kangaroo is their size — while kangaroos can reach towering heights over 6 ft, wallabies are lucky if they reach 3 ft tall.
