A new restaurant is bringing New Orleans’ Bourbon Street to Germantown’s front door.
North of Bourbon — a reference to the bourbon focused bar and famous street in NOLA — is opening Friday in the former Mr. Lee’s Lounge at 935 Goss Ave. , which closed in 2019.
The new owners, husband-and-wife duo Stacy and Daniel Holyfield + brothers Eric and Brad Jennings, have completed $500,000 worth of renovations — mostly with reclaimed wood from Maker’s Mark.
While the food portion of North of Bourbon is focused on traditional Louisiana dishes like seafood file gumbo + red beans and rice, Chef Lawrence Weeks is also putting his spin on classic NOLA flavors — like the crawfish boudin balls.
He’s also bringing “fancied-up” versions of his family recipes to the table like the crab rice dressing made with mustard greens, bacon, basil cream, and jalapeno.

At the bar, you can belly up for one of 26 cocktails, a mix of signature drinks, bourbon classics + non-bourbon sippers.
The bar also has a packaged liquor license, so you can leave with a bottle or if you’re a big spender — we’re talking $1,000 worth of bourbon big spender — you can lock up your bottle in one of their 16 private, on-premise bourbon lockers + receive lunch discounts, priority choice for barrel picks, and free admission to bourbon events.
There is only one $75 grand opening reservation package time slot still available from 5-7 p.m. — which includes a bottle of champagne, the house howitzer cocktail mix + a shared plate — but you can drop in after 10 p.m. when it’s open to the public, too.
Regular hours will be Tues.-Thurs. from 11-12 a.m. + Friday and Saturday from 11-1 a.m.
