We recently ventured to Activate Louisville , a high-tech digital gaming arcade where “Mission Impossible” meets “The Hunger Games.”

Located at 2510 Hurstbourne Gem Ln., this gaming experience brings arcade-style games to life and puts the “active” in “activate.” We’re definitely wearing knee pads next time.

Inside, there are 11 private rooms decked out with lasers and glowing floors — each one hosting a different physically and mentally challenging game to be played as a team of 2-6.

Each game has several play options, difficulty levels to choose from, and lasts around three minutes. Plus, the days of long-trailing paper arcade tickets and tokens are gone. Your wristband keeps track of your score and progress. Plus, it activates each game with a simple touch.

Hide was one of our favorite games and featured giant eyeballs.

Here were our top three games:

  • Hide — a problem solving sequence game where you also have to hide from giant eyeballs.
  • Climb – scale across a slightly inclined wall with glowing handholds
  • Pipes — put a ball in the correct glowing pipe while navigating a divided room

Activate costs $25 per player for a 75-minute session. Get activated .
