Last month, we asked our readers to share their best advice for moving to or living in Louisville. These Derby City pro tips are coming from the true experts — most of the folks who responded have lived here for 10+ years.

“Learn the secondary highways and parkways (ex. Preston Highway, Greenbelt, Hurstbourne Parkway, etc.) and how they interconnect. When traffic is crazy on the main highways, you can still get home.” — Tracy L.

“Find a friend with a boat.” — Anonymous. We feel you there. If you can’t find anyone with a boat of their own, consider hopping aboard the Belle of Louisville or try out Dragon Boating.

“Get involved with The Newcomers Club. Activities and groups for a variety of interests.” — Marlene S.

“Call or visit [Louisville Tourism]. They have the best info for visitors or newcomers on parks, recreation, and other info.” — Sheila B.

“Explore, explore, and then explore some more!” — Steven S. We couldn’t agree more, Steven. Check out our guides to all things Louisville to start exploring.
