Today marks the end of Aries season and the start of the Taurus month. In honor of this occasion, we’re bringing you a Louisville neighborhood for each Zodiac sign. Do you live in the neighborhood that matches your sign?
Aries: Portland | March 21-April 19
Known as the passionate and confident leader of the zodiac, an Aries would feel right at home in Portland. The neighborhood began as a rival town to Louisville before it was annexed in the 1850s — and that independence still marks the neighborhood today. Stop by Outsider Art Museum for a peak at the passion that permeates Portland.
Taurus: Old Louisville | April 20-May 20
As a lover of loyalty, you’ll feel right at home in Old Louisville. With its ~1,400 Victorian homes, the neighborhood has really stayed true to its roots. There’s a lot of history that’s taken place there over the years, but Old Louisville is still alive and well as home to one of Derby City’s great debates.
Kentucky Derby Festival season is officially upon us. Check out our monthly Plan Ahead guide for upcoming events, and be sure to bookmark the page to get your curated list of all Louisville’s top events, updated each and every month.
Mansion Monday
An elegant foyer, walking distance from Cherokee Park, and did we mention the pool? All this and more awaits you at this nearly 5,000-sqft home on Cherokee Road.
Kids
There’s just over a month left of school for JCPS students: The last day of classes is Friday, May 22. If you haven’t already, consider signing your young ones up for a local summer camp.
State
Have you seen Coca-Cola’s limited edition Kentucky can? In honor of America’s 250-year anniversary, the beverage company released special mini cans for each US state — ours features the outline of a horse. (Nextstar Media)
Outdoors
In case you missed it: Louisville landed at No. 55 on the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America’s list of the toughest cities for allergy sufferers. As pollen seasons get longer and more intense, consider this your reminder to take a Zyrtec before heading outdoors.
