Every day, we write LOUtoday with one goal: to help you feel more connected to your city. And we’re not alone — our friends across the US, from Seattle to Tampa Bay, do the same for our 6AM City communities.
We believe in the power of local media to keep the community informed, engaged, and excited about where they live. That’s why our newsletter is and will remain free.
How do we make it sustainable?
We partner with national brands and some of Louisville’s best organizations + businesses that support our mission of bringing only good news to your inbox. But we also rely on reader support.
We’re calling on you now to help support our mission with a donation.

Over the next 10 days, we’re launching a reader-driven campaign to sustain what we do best:
The Silver Dollar will have its last day of service this Saturday, Nov. 15. The Frankfort Avenue restaurant is closed this week, but will be open for regular service on its final day.
Environment
MSD is warning residents to avoid contact with Pond Creek in Valley Station and the Northern Ditch and the Southern Ditch in Outer Loop. These waterways may have been contaminated with runoff from last week’s plane crash. Tap water remains safe to drink unless you’ve received a specific warning otherwise.
Number
$17 million. That’s how much money the City of Louisville has available for mid-year budget adjustments. Mayor Craig Greenberg has proposed investing this money into new fire-fighting equipment, housing assistance, and financial support for Dare to Care.
Drink
If you’d like to get a head start on the holidays, check out Miracle on Market’s preview day this Saturday, Nov. 15. The holiday pop-up will be open 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. with food + drink specials, including holiday egg rolls stuffed with mac + cheese, hot chicken, and collard greens.
Sports
Louisville’s upcoming American football team, the Louisville Kings, is seeking input from the public on its future mascot. Submit your ideas on social media and keep an eye out for a chance to vote on the finalists this month.
Listen
The Louisville Cardinals faced one of their biggest tests of the season in last night’s game against the Kentucky Wildcats. Get game coverage, analysis, insights, interviews, and more from local experts of the Cards with Locked On’s daily podcasts.
Plan Ahead

Mashup gives NuLu a new grab-and-go dining option and place to work or relax.
Photos by LOUtoday
Mashup Food Hall in NuLu is now open — and you’ll want to check it out.
The food hall has ample comfy seating and enough food options to guarantee there’s something for everyone. Logan Street Market regulars will recognize Cold Smoke Bagels and 721 Mint It, but there are plenty more vendors to pick from, including cheesecake on a stick by Dripped and Drizzled + hot dogs and burgers from Red Top.
There’s more on the menu at Mashup too, including Tolkien Tuesday movie screenings, Qi Gong, and art exhibitions. Check out the full events calendar.

Something I really enjoy about places like Mashup and Logan Street Market is that it’s so easy to take a group out to dinner before a show or other event. Everyone can pick what they want, and you get fast service on good, local food.
Here’s a bonus pro tip if you visit Mashup in the next few weeks: Bargain Supply is right next door, and they’re selling snow shovels at a discount. We’ll be needing those before we know it.
