Halloween is still roughly three months away, but something wicked this way comes to Louisville this weekend. That’s right, it’s time for the second annual Caufield’s CreepFest. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:
  • 70+ vendors upstairs in Caufield’s
  • Costume contests for adults + for pets
  • Photo ops with the Ecto-1 (only on Saturday)
  • Free giveaways
Entry to CreepFest is free. It runs this Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday, 12-5 p.m.

Sunflowers & Sips: A Buzz-Worthy Paint Party | 6 p.m. | A Purposeful Ponte Studio | $35 | Bring your gal pal along for this sip + paint ladies night out, where you’ll paint a sunflower mason jar — supplies are included, but BYOB.

Saturday, Aug. 9

IPA Fest | 11 a.m.-11:30 p.m. | West Sixth NuLu | $21 | Celebrate all things hops with this fifth annual event featuring the India Pale Ale.

Louisville City FC vs. Charleston Battery | 8 p.m. | Lynn Family Stadium | $18+ | See LouCity take on one of their top rivals in the league — wear purple and arrive early for a chance at a free t-shirt and poster.

Grunge Fest | 8 p.m. | Mercury Ballroom | $21 | Throw it back to the 1990s with tributes to Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots.

Sunday, Aug. 10

Nurse Lucy Nichols: Unsung Civil War Hero | 2-3 p.m. | The Frazier History Museum | Free with admission | Hear from the author of a book on Lucy Higgs Nichols, who escaped enslavement and joined the Union Army as a nurse before settling down in New Albany.

Festival

If music + cooking demos aren’t enough for you this Bourbon & Beyond, you’re in luck. This year, passes to both B&B and Louder Than Life will also grant access to Kentucky Kingdom, so you can take to a rollercoaster while listening to Jack White, Cage the Elephant, and Megan Moroney.

Outdoors

The Algonquin Park Pool will host an adults-only pool night for Louisvillians ages 30+ this Sunday, Aug. 10. Register online for free entrance — it’s first come, first served.

Coming Soon

The Mashup Food Hall coming to NuLu has added three more vendors to its lineup. Barcelona Bistro Bar, 721 Mint It!, and Nexus Bar Bites will all be tenants in the hall when it opens this fall, along with Cold Smoke Bagels and Wiltshire Pantry. (Louisville Business First)

State

The Bluegrass State is getting its first medical marijuana dispensary later this year. Officials have approved the facility in the Ohio County city of Beaver Dam, set to open in the fall. It’s the first of 14 that will open across Kentucky in the coming years. (WLKY)
