News Notes

Pet

French Bulldogs are the most popular breed of dog in America, according to Visual Capitalist. Whether you’re a Frenchie fan or a Labrador lover, the Kentucky Humane Society has plenty of adoptable pets worth your affection — including My Sharona, a friendly, six-year-old lab mix who loves chilling on the couch. Bonus: Her adoption fee is waived.

Number

~$80.2 billion. That was DoorDash’s 2024 gross order value. Next time you don’t feel like braving the grocery store, consider CSAs instead of the delivery app — local CSA boxes are available via membership or subscription and contain everything from fruits and vegetables to meat + eggs. (Sherwood News)

State

2,655. That’s how many gallons of maple syrup were produced by the state of Kentucky in 2022. Maybe that’s why Louisville’s brunch scene is so good. (Brilliantmaps.com)

Drink

Spirits sales are down by 1.1% — with one exception. Tequila sales are up by 2.9%. As good an excuse as any for National Margarita Day today — check out our list of local deals. (Sherwood News)

This winter’s harsh weather has taken a toll on Louisville and surrounding communities. If you are looking to give back, we’ve rounded up some ways to donate your time + effort.
  • Louisville Parks + Recreation | During Operation White Flag, Louisville’s community centers are open as warming shelters. Contact your local center to see how you can help.
  • Wayside Christian Mission | Another Operation White Flag shelter, this organization needs volunteers for everything from food prep and donation sorting to office work.
  • Feed Louisville | This organization makes 1,000 meals at its headquarters Monday through Friday, with the option to cook during regular hours, join the night kitchen team, or help distribute meals + perform outreach. Right now, you can also volunteer to collect supplies for Eastern Kentucky communities hit hard by the flooding.

City Guides are presented by LouCity & Racing.
