This plan could go all the way

The Broadway Master Plan has a new name: Broadway All The Way. The project’s goal is to transform the 192-year-old roadway from Southwestern Parkway in Shawnee all the way to Baxter Avenue in the Highlands. That’s 10 miles.

In September, the project, which initially launched in 2022, got an injection of life with a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation through its RAISE Planning Grant program.

With those funds as backing, Broadway All The Way is considering some major changes, prioritizing safety, access, and equity for everyone, including pedestrians, cyclists, public transportation users, and drivers. Potential changes include:
  • Bus lanes, to increase the dependability + regularity of TARC routes
  • Bike lanes, to allow cyclists access to roadway
  • Traffic calming measures like medians + planted shrubs, to discourage speeding
In its grant proposal, Broadway All They Way officials said they hope that a plan could be complete by August 2025.

Here at LOUtoday everything we do is hyper-local, and today we’re taking a look at a new business that passes the vibe check.

Locals Food Hub and Pizza Pub is now open on East Broadway. The spot is part of the Epping District, and is located next door to the East Broadway Theater.

Here’s a sample of what’s on the menu, which is served daily beginning at 11 a.m.
    • Apps like cheese bread, chicken wings, meatballs, and artichoke dip
    • 14 wood-fired pizzas, including a build-your-own — we’ve got our eyes on the Kentucky Hot Brown pizza
    • Six salads
    • Two soups — sausage soup + tomato bisque
    • Desserts like a cookie, brownie, and cheesecake
Meanwhile, there’s also the food hub — aka the grocery — that is open daily, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. It features foods from 49 Kentucky counties including produce, meat, dairy, and pantry items. Items will be available seasonally, which means there’s plenty of squash right now.
