Whenever we’re feeling saucy, we like to dig into a slice of local pizza. Louisville’s pizza scene is bubbling with options — and we keep finding ways to top ourselves. If you’re on the quest for the perfect slice, we’ve pie-oneered a list of 12 places to grab pizza that are definitely worth the dough.
Local Legends
Pizza Lupo | Butchertown
Founded in 2017, this Butchertown operation’s wood-fired Neopolitan offerings won LEO Weekly’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Pizza in 2021 and 2022. Plus, our readers said it has the best crust in Derby City. It’s most popular pie, Sting Like a Bee, pays homage to “The Greatest” and features Detroit-style pepperoni cups and hot honey.
Fancier Fare
Bar Vetti | NuLu
Located on the first floor of the AC Hotel, Bar Vetti might seem like a suave spot to sip a cocktail — like the Tommy’s Never Right — but its menu also offers six pizzas, including a mushroom and artichoke pie with marscapone and locally farmed fungi.
The Post offers classic New York-style slices until midnight, but don’t sleep on their monthly specials.
The Post | Germantown + Highlands
This late-night spot, which dishes out New York-style slices until midnight, is known for its specialty pies — like the New Dill with ranch dressing + pickles.
Brick oven-style
Mac’s at Mile Wide | Irish Hill
There’s no need to investigate how the sausage (pizza) is made at Mac’s — the brick oven greets you the moment you walk in the door at Mile Wide Beer Co. on Barret Avenue. The counter is conveniently located just steps from the bar, too.
We know, this is just a piece of the pie. If your favorite place to get pizza wasn’t mentioned, let us know so we can show it some love in the future.

A new look for Elliott Park
Elliott Park is going to look a whole lot different
The Olmsted Park Conservancy + Louisville Parks and Recreation broke ground on the project Wednesday, Nov. 8. | Photo by @olmstedparks502
A Russell neighborhood park with ties to Louisville’s Major League Baseball history is getting a $2.9 million remodel.
Come next fall, Elliott Park will see a total renovation of its current amenities including:
A new playground + sprayground
Revamped picnic areas
Walking paths
A field house
A few new features include a limestone seating wall, horseshoe pits, and permanent tabletop games, like chess.
The plan for the nearly four-acre park was informed by neighbors and community organizations, like ElderServe.
Before it joined the Olmsted Park System in 1906, the site was known as Eclipse Park. From 1882 to 1892 it hosted Louisville’s former and only Major League Baseball team.
Elliott Park is one of 17 parks in Louisville’s Olmsted Park System designed to bring green spaces into the urban landscape. The money fueling the project comes from the Olmsted Parks Conservancy, city budget allocations, and American Rescue Plan funds.
The Buy

An instant read meat thermometer. Because Thanksgiving is only 13 days away, and if you’re planning to serve turkey, it’s nice to serve it cooked.
Back in March, we got a little cheesy and went a little mad. We asked LOUtoday’s readers to choose Louisville’s best pizza, bracket-style. After a month of voting and ~2,700 votes, Danny Mac’s emerged victorious. As far as accolades go, that title is baked in prestige.
