You’ve got a big presentation due… and a big pile of laundry taunting you. We get it — working from home can be a mixed blessing. There are days when a change of scenery is a must if you’re going to get anything done. The good news? Research shows that tackling your tasks al fresco actually helps boost productivity.

Development
  • Three 1960s apartment buildings in Cherokee Triangle will be demolished. Louisville Collegiate School — who owns the apartments and emptied the buildings earlier this year — won a bid to remove the structures + build a 56-space parking lot in its place. The timeline has not been announced. (WDRB)

  • The Kentucky State Fair starts this Thursday, Aug. 17, and there will be lots of new foods to try. Have a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto corndog or chicken bacon donut sandwich, then go pink with a Barbie funnel cake for dessert. (The Courier-Journal)

Legacy
  • Veteran broadcast journalist Rick Howlett died on Saturday, Aug. 12. Rick’s voice has been heard across Kentucky since 1984, and he was with Louisville Public Media since 2001. Longtime listeners will recognize his voice as the host of 89.3 WFPL News Louisville.
