Three 1960s apartment buildings in Cherokee Triangle will be demolished. Louisville Collegiate School — who owns the apartments and emptied the buildings earlier this year — won a bid to remove the structures + build a 56-space parking lot in its place. The timeline has not been announced. (WDRB)

Veteran broadcast journalist Rick Howlett died on Saturday, Aug. 12. Rick’s voice has been heard across Kentucky since 1984, and he was with Louisville Public Media since 2001. Longtime listeners will recognize his voice as the host of 89.3 WFPL News Louisville.

This unexpected, extended JCPS summer break might have you frantically searching for places to take the kiddos until school is back in session. Don’t worry — several Louisville institutions have stepped up to the plate to offer discounts on things to do until then.
Many of Louisville Parks and Recreation’s community centers boast gyms, computer labs, fitness equipment + more.
Louisville Free Public Library offers a plethora of activities at its locations, all at no cost. Staying in? Its YouTube channel hosts recorded storytimes, art workshops, and 4-H cooking + crafting programs.
As a longtime remote worker, I understand the need to switch up your environment every once in a while. And sometimes, a little fresh air is all I need to break through my writer’s block. But if LOU is bringing wind, rain, or extreme heat, here are a few indoor spots I’d suggest.
