Janet Hayden and her three teammates — dubbed K4, as in the four Kentuckians — got the idea to create Bourbon City Pickleball Camp after attending a pickleball camp in Florida run by professional player Simone Jardim.
“She’s one of the top five players in the world,” Janet said. She added that the instructors leading the Louisville camp work with both Simone and Ben Johns, who is currently ranked the No. 1 international male pickleball player.
Though the camp is full, the public is welcome to watch all the pickleball action from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 18 on courts 4, 5, 12, and 13.
The last time I watched a drive-in movie, it was about 25 degrees out. A few friends and I nearly froze while catching a double feature at Sauerbeck Family Drive-In. I’m really looking forward to reliving the experience in warmer weather this summer during retro Wednesdays.
