Hotel, motel, NuLu Inn.
On Tuesday, business leaders and developers — including Gov. Andy Beshear and Mayor Greg Fischer — broke ground on a $31 million avant-garde hotel project in the heart of NuLu.
The hotel — yet to be named — is being developed in the current parking lot at 730 E. Market St. between Galaxie and Evergreen Liquors. It will feature 122 rooms across 6 floors, a rooftop restaurant and bar, mini market, outdoor art gallery + is expected to create more than 40 jobs.

Austin-based hospitality group, Bunkhouse , is behind the hotel. They currently manage 8 hotel properties worldwide, Jo’s Coffee + a music festival. The hotel in Louisville will be the group’s first Kentucky property.
The group focuses on the pillars of design, music, and authentic community-driven experiences, so expect activities soaked in bourbon + historical French themes throughout the hotel in honor of King Louis XVI, Louisville’s namesake.
Bunkhouse is partnering with local, award-winning firm, Zimmer-Design , on the Louisville-centric hotel branding, as well as their bourbon neighbors, Rabbit Hole Distillery, on creating an art garden that will facilitate access from Market St. to Jefferson St., which will also enhance entry to the distillery from Market St.
You can expect to book a stay at the hotel beginning in the spring of 2023, just in time for Derby.
