The House of Marigold is celebrating its grand opening this Saturday, March 25 — but Katie and I were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of Kris and Adrienne Cole’s latest creation.

From the moment we walked toward the entrance, it was clear that we were stepping into a place that’s stacked with Instagram-worthy photo ops. The front windows are covered with huge decal outlines of — what else — marigolds.

Inside, blush pink, pale yellow, and sage green walls are complemented by wood-top tables outfitted with fresh flowers. But the decor was just the beginning.

The cocktail menu boasts a dozen options, including traditional brunch offerings like mimosas, as well as other drinks — like the tequila-based Shady Pines, which is the Marigold’s take on a margarita with pineapple syrup. I really enjoyed the Cocotini, made with Effen vodka, coffee liqueur, cold brew concentrate, and vanilla sweet cream.

In addition to boozy brunch drinks, we tried a variety of savory and sweet menu items whipped up by Chef Kris. Here are a few things we sampled:

  • House-made biscuits with butter and seasonal jam
  • French toast topped with lemongrass powdered sugar and local maple syrup
  • Deviled eggs — which came with 4+ toppings
  • Cornbread with whipped butter and sorghum
  • Avocado toast on Blue Dog Bakery bread and sprinkled with house-made everything seasoning
Shrimp and Grits at The House of Marigold

We’re fans of The House of Marigold’s shrimp and grits.

While there wasn’t a dish we didn’t like, the one that stood out was the shrimp and grits made with white cheddar Weisenberger grits, blended veggies, and prosciutto.

With delicious dishes and chic decor, it seems like husband-and-wife team Kris and Adrienne have found the formula for gold — Marigold, that is. If you want to get in on this, we suggest saving a table ASAP.
