Gas-powered lawn equipment typically has less upfront costs, but their use creates long-term effects. They can produce high levels of air pollutants.

Lawn Care for Cleaner Air — a Jefferson County rebate program — gives residents an additional incentive to switch from gas to electric. All you need is proof of residency, like a driver’s license, to request rebates.

The allowances go up to $50 per item, depending on the equipment type and whether they are trade-ins. Rebates are available for:

  • Electric push mowers
  • Reel mowers
  • Electric leaf blowers
  • String trimmers
  • Mower batteries
  • Trimmer/blower batteries

Bonus: Higher rebates are offered when old equipment is dropped off at one of three approved recycling facilities. See the list .
