On Tuesday, Feb. 6, city leaders announced that renovations to the Algonquin Park pool are underway. This comes after the popular West End pool was closed last summer “for building improvements .”
To finance the renovations, the city allocated over $9 million to the Algonquin pool as well as the Camp Taylor pool; the funds are a part of the city’s redirection of $20 million from the American Rescue Plan for Louisville parks and libraries.
Here are some of the things you can expect to see
at the Algonquin pool when renovations are complete:
- Family slide
- Lily pad bridge
- Zero-depth entry ramp
- Climbing wall
- Vortex
Additionally, free public Wi-Fi is being installed at Algonquin Park.
The pool renovations are expected to be complete by spring 2025, while the Wi-Fi could be in place by the end of the week.
