Last month, we brought you a handful of genealogical research sources to help with family history. Today we’re back with an expanded list of places that can help you trace your ancestry back through time.
Sons of the American Revolution Library | This national organization is headquartered right here in Louisville, and its massive genealogical library is housed here as well. Members get free access, but non-members can use the library’s resources for a fee of $5.
The Filson Historical Society | If your family history in Louisville goes back several generations, The Filson may have documents that are useful in your research, including yearbooks, censuses, and Louisville city directories.
Louisville Geneaological Society | In addition to online databases + information on best research practices, the LGS offers seminars to help your research skills.
ROOTS 101 Family Legacy Center | This new service by the downtown museum is one of several places around town to access a database called FamilySearch. You can sign up online for a 30-minute free session.
LFPL | Library cardholders can access historical maps and other documents to help piece together the puzzle of your geneaology.
A small piece of a dress worn by Martha Washington is now on display at the Frazier History Museum for a short time as part of its Presidential Objects case. The artifact is on loan from the Sons of the American Revolution until the end of March (WHAS11)
