Let’s go local

Louisvillians are so good at supporting local that USA Today named Louisville one of the best cities in the US to start a business in 2024.

In honor of our many movers and shakers, we’re asking readers to nominate small businesses they love so we can share them with the whole audience.

We’ll be here to share a new batch of small businesses every month, so bookmark this page to come back for more, especially if you’ve enjoyed our past Small Business Week coverage.

Anchal is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Anchal | 1229 S. Shelby St.
This Shelby Park business helps support artisans in India, importing and selling clothing and textiles in-store and online. Be sure to check back in regularly, as Anchal always has a rotating seasonal collection. Bonus: Check out our interview with Anchal founder Colleen Clines.

Highland Fish Market | Two locations
As its name suggests, this business first opened in the Highlands over 25 years ago. Now, it has two locations in Middletown and Deer Park. Shop online or order in-store for fish, shellfish, lobster, and more.

Bodhi Salt Center | 4802 Sherburn Ln.
From steam barrels to red light saunas to yoga in a salt room, this wellness center has it all. People of all ages can get in on the fun with Bodhi Salt’s kid salt room, too. Editor’s pick: Try the shirodhara oil treatment.

Psst — If you’d like to see a small business included in LOUtoday, make sure to submit it here

The Wrap

Iron Maiden, Pantera, My Chemical Romance, Peirce the Veil, Limp Bizkit, and TOOL: all these artists and more are on the 2026 Louder Than Life lineup.

Fun fact: Violinist Lindsey Sterling will be performing at both Bourbon & Beyond and Louder than Life this year, which has me wondering how many other artists have played both festivals. If you know of any, reply to this email and let me know.
