There’s so much development news around Derby City that it’s hard to keep track of them all.
To help you keep up with what’s going up in Louisville, we’ve rounded up three development projects we’re watching this year.
Mid City Market
The Highlands landmark that is Mid City Mall spent a long time on the market, but earlier this year plans were revealed for a new development on the site. The old building is set to be demolished this month, with construction to follow.
NuLu Marketplace
This 47,000-sqft mixed use building on Market Street is about to get a whole lot bigger. In a plan unveiled in 2024, the developer Noveen said it would be adding more retail, restaurant, and entertainment space in an expansion behind the marketplace, between Billy Goat Strut Alley and Main Street. Stay tuned for more on the businesses that are expected to move in, including a taco place and a bookstore/wine bar.
Reset & Rise: One Day. All for You. | Sunday, Feb. 15-Sunday, Aug. 16 | Times vary | Bodhi Salt | $266+ | This monthly one-day wellness retreat is designed specifically for women who deserve a day to fully exhale, but it’s not just a spa day, it’s a deep, curated reset for your body and mind.*
Cultured Cheese Shop will close its East Main Street location on Saturday, March 7. The charcuterie business will continue in some capacity at Copper & Crow starting at the end of March — stay tuned for more details.
Open
Chica’s Cantina is now open on East Main Street, right down the street from Cultured. The restaurant is run by the same folks as Shahar, but serves non-vegan menu items like al pastor + rib eye tacos alongside plant-based options. (WHAS11)
Eat
When one (cellar) door closes... Wiltshire Pantry is rolling out a new line of gourmet chocolate, led by former Cellar Door Chocolate owner Erika Chavez-Graziano. Order online for pickup at any Wiltshire location. (Louisville Business First)
Number
~1,200. That’s how many JCPS positions earn a salary over $100,000. The district plans to cut around 300 jobs from its central office by this summer to help address the ongoing budget shortfall. (WDRB)
