Groundhog Day, when Punxsutawney Phil will emerge and predict whether or not we’ll see an early spring, a tradition dating back 139 years. Whatever Phil says, we’ve got plenty of Derby City events lined up for February. Here’s some of what we’re looking forward to:
Sidney Lee’s “Slice Of Magic” | Thursday, Feb. 12 | 5-9 p.m. | Mecurio’s Music & Restro Bar | $5+ | Local magicians take to the stage — perfect for a magical Valentine’s Day weekend date night.
Galentine’s Day Cocktail Class | Friday, Feb. 6, Friday, Feb. 13 | Times vary | Angel’s Envy Distillery | $98 | Gather your friends and celebrate friendship with a guided cocktail experience where you’ll master the art of batching cocktails that impress without stress.
The 13th Gravy Cup | Saturday, Feb. 28 9 a.m.-12 p.m. | Louisville Slugger Field | $15+ | Support Boys and Girls Haven by sampling + judging a host of local gravies.
Do not try this at home. Storied rock climber Alex Honnold recently climbed the tallest skyscraper in Taiwan without ropes or a harness, and Netflix livestreamed the event. If he ever came to Derby City, we wonder which of our most iconic landmarks he would scale.
Sports
Super Bowl LX is locked in — the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will meet Sunday, Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area. Which Louisville sports bar is your go to for gameday? We’d like to know. (USA Today)
Health
It can be tough to find time to work out. Good news — a new study suggests that a couple of 30-45 minute sessions per week could be enough to make “very good gains.” If you’ve got the time, see which of Louisville’s gyms would suit your schedule. (NPR)

“To be or not to be?” They say that’s the question. If you’re seeking an answer, consider signing up for StageOne’s adult acting classes, where you’ll learn Shakespearean sonnets and how to perform them. The class starts on Wednesday, March 4 and runs through Wednesday, April 22. Registration is open now.
