Publix is supermarket sweeping Kentucky
The Lakeland, FL-based chain is slowly making its way north. | Photo by LALtoday
Looks like there’s another Pub Sub on the Kentucky horizon.
The ever-expanding supermarket chain Publix has confirmed another Louisville-area location at a former Douglass Hills Walmart Neighborhood Market at Blankenbaker Parkway + Shelbyville Road.
Publix announced its first Kentucky store back in September 2021 + has since been rolling out supermarkets across the state.
That brings the total of planned + opened stores in Kentucky to 13. Publix is the largest employee-owned company in the US, operating more than 1,400 stores in eight Southeastern states.
Fun fact: Publix borrowed its name from a defunct chain of movie theaters.
Support small businesses from across the globe with one-of-a-kind products from Etsy. We love this customizable burger stamp for leveling up summer grill outs. Bonus: The artisan seller also offers a custom ice stamp so you can elevate upcoming cocktail nights.
Tonight is the first community meeting for the proposed tennis + pickleball center development at Joe Creason Park. The project’s developers will be at the Cyril Allgeier community center starting at 6 p.m.
If you want to contact your councilperson about this or any other project around Louisville, check out our guide to the Metro Council system.
