Once upon a time you dressed so fine

A church steeple rises above a quiet city street. The red brick church is lit with purple light, and features stained glass windows.
The Last Refuge takes its name from Bob Dylan lyrics as well as a former name for the building, The Refuge of Kentucky Church. | Photo by @SteveGrider
Like Bob Dylan once said, “All I can do is be me, whoever that is.” Turns out, Timothée Chalamet might be able to be you, too.

The Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” hits theaters on Wednesday, Dec. 25, so we went searching for ties between him and Derby City.

The Last Refuge

From Dylan’s whiskey brand, Heaven’s Door, this NuLu bar opened earlier this year in a former church — you can knock, knock, knock on their door Wednesday through Sunday.

Bonus: Stop by The Last Refuge tonight from 4 to 6 p.m. for a chance to win tickets to a special screening of “A Complete Unknown” later that night at Baxter Avenue Filmworks.

No Direction Home

Just like the movie, this vintage furniture store near Cherokee Park takes it’s name from Dylan’s, “Like A Rolling Stone.” It’s open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

This team says, ‘No’ to snow

Earlier this week, we told you about LOU’s history with snow.

And while snow may not be in the forecast for the near future, the Louisville Metro Snow team is ready — just in case.

Get to know the team:
  • The Metro Snow Team is led by Metro Public Works and is made up of multiple government departments, totaling 300+ snow fighters.
  • Louisville has roughly 38,000 tons of salt on hand. Fun fact: Most of this salt is stored underground in the Louisville Mega Cavern.
  • A total of 2,734 two-lane miles make up the city’s 110 snow routes.
  • More than 100 pieces of equipment — from smaller utility trucks to giant fleets — contribute to the snow-fighting efforts.
  • There are four road treatment stages the team employs based on conditions.
Stay informed on the movements of the Metro Snow Team during inclement weather via this real-time interactive map that details the status of the roads.

The Wrap

I was fortunate enough to go see Bob Dylan back in March at the Palace Theatre. When a legend is in town, you gotta go.

Which legendary musical act would you most like to see visit Derby City? Let me know.
