What is the Michelin Key? It’s a brand-new award given to hotels, akin to the Michelin star for restaurants. It comes from the Michelin Guide, which is produced annually by the well-known tire manufacturer Michelin — you’ve probably heard of the company’s puffy mascot.
A hotel can be awarded one, two, or three Michelin Keys — Hotel Genevieve received one.
One Key: a very special stay
Two Keys: an exceptional stay
Three Keys: an extraordinary stay
Criteria for the Keys include excellence in design, architecture, service, and personality.
Hotel Genevieve is the only hotel in Kentucky to be awarded a Michelin Key. There are no Michelin star restaurants in the Bluegrass State.
We all know that Louisville shines on the world stage each spring with the Kentucky Derby, but Derby City might be at its best in the fall — and it officially begins in less than a week.
