    🚲 Wheelie big news

This plan could make it easier to bike throughout Louisville

When it comes to biking, Louisville is rolling along.

Multiple projects currently under construction + planned — including on Main Street, Market Street, around the University of Louisville, and through Old Louisville — are making it safer to ride a bike in Derby City.

Now, a newly released plan will keep the wheels turning. Louisville’s Bikeway Implementation Plan was released last week.

The 126-page document prioritizes four goals for Louisville’s bike network:
    • Connect people to places
    • Improve economic mobility + access
    • Prioritize rider safety + reduce traffic stress
    • Strategic networking designation by evaluating Louisville’s roadways
The plan will be updated annually, keeping up with how Louisville continues to pedal forward.

The public comment period on the plan is open until Monday, July 22 at 11:59 p.m.

Bonus: Want to grab life by the handle bars? We rounded up local LOU groups, from social cyclists to advocates.

    From the editor
The addition of Sting to the Bourbon and Beyond lineup is certainly big news, but don’t forget there’s another music festival in just under two weeks.

The Big Stomp will be held at Waterfront Park this year for the first time, on Friday, July 26 + Saturday, July 27. With St. Paul and the Broken Bones headlining, I’ll be stomping around — or maybe just dancing — myself.
