Happy New Year, Louisvillians. To start the year off on the right foot, we need a little help from you.
Every morning, more than 37,000 of you welcome us into your inbox. And each day, we do our very best to provide you with timely, relevant information so you can get the most out of the city we call home.
We’re asking you to take two minutes to tell us a little more about yourself because the more we know about who you are, the better we can deliver information that you care about. Just two minutes. Feel free to skip any questions you don’t want to answer. We don’t want to pry. (Okay, we do, but for a good reason.)
What to do with your Christmas tree after the holidays

Sure, the holidays are all fun and games — but if you celebrate Christmas, you know that sooner or later you have to deal with that “Night of the Living Dead” tree in the corner.
Here are some tips on how to properly dispose of your seasonal decorations.
Curbside pick-up
Metro Public Works provides curbside pick-up of Christmas trees in the Urban Service District through January. Louisvillians can place their undecorated trees and other greenery out on their regular yard waste day for collection. Pro tip: Don’t put them in plastic bags.
Keep in mind that yard waste will be collected every other week from Jan. 15 to March 11 as part of the winter schedule.
Drop-off at Bernheim Forest
Toss your tree at the turnaround point left of the front gatehouse through January. The arboretum will turn it into mulch that will be used throughout the forest.
The Times Square Ball might be one of the most famous balls in the US, but I think Derby City could give it a run for its money, considering our glittery past. I think New Year’s Rockin’ Eve should move to Louisville for a giant disco ball drop next time.
