How to report a pothole
Potholes are unsightly and can cause damage to your vehicle — but there’s a way to report them and help get them fixed. | Photo via Canva
We all try to avoid damage to our cars by maneuvering around potholes, but there’s one more thing you should do if you come across these depressions in the road: Make a report.
Here’s how:
Complete an online form with your basic info and location of the pothole. You can even upload photos if you have them.
Send a tweet to @LouMetro311 with the pothole’s whereabouts and the hashtag #502pothole.
Call Metro311 or 574-5000 to make a report over the phone.
According to AAA, one in 10 drivers sustain vehicle damage that’s significant enough to warrant a repair after hitting a pothole — and that comes with an average cost of $600.
More than 17,000 potholes have been filled in Metro Louisville since January. If we all continue to report potholes as we see them, we’ll be doing our part to help keep LOU’s roads smooth and pothole-free.
Potholes are the worst. A giant one shut down parts of 1-65 earlier this year. I drive a tiny, two-door car, so you can imagine what hitting a pothole like that would mean for me. Needless to say, I’m saving that pothole reporting number in my phone.
