Every mom deserves a special gift from our Mother’s Day Gift Guide. | Graphic provided by 6AM City
This year, instead of grabbing a last-minute present from the store, why not get the mom figure in your life a gift that is truly unique?

To help you out, we’ve created a gift guide featuring items from our online store, Six & Main, as well as products we love from other popular brands.

Moms are important to us all year, but Mother’s Day is when we can really show how special they truly are to us. From presents for the food and beverage fan to the art collector, let this gift guide lead you to the perfect present.

The outdoor enthusiast
The art collector
  • Add to mom’s art collection with pieces featuring dramatic skies, panoramic mountain vistas, and small-town area street scenes by Jeff Pittman Art.
  • For coastal vibes, explore colorful artwork by Dream a little ART SC.
  • If the walls are already full of beautiful art, fear not. This modern ceramic vase is the perfect decorative accent. Bonus: this vibrant coffee table book is chock-full of exquisite scenes from Mykonos.
The fashion lover
While this list is a great way to start shopping for mom, we’re working to grow our store, Six and Main, and would love to add more local vendors. If you know any local brands we should be promoting, let us know.

Wait, there’s more... Click the button below to explore presents for mothers who love home decor, snacks, beverages, and more.
Keep shopping for mom

LOU library wins big

Louisville library wins national award

Louisville Free Public Library Northeast
The almost 40,000-sqft Northeast Regional Library is one of the busiest in LOU, with 19,500 visitors every month.

We love our Louisville libraries, so we were thrilled to hear that Louisville Free Public Library’s Northeast Regional branch — a location we sometimes work from — was one of five US libraries to receive the 2023 Library Building Award, an annual honor from the American Institute of Architects and the American Library Association.

The award is the only one of its kind, as it recognizes entire library structures and all aspects of their design. LOU’s Northeast library was designed by JRA Architects of Louisville, Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle Ltd. of Minneapolis, MKSK Studios of Louisville + library staff.

If you haven’t been, we suggest you check it out. The Platinum LEED-certified building boasts sweeping views of the adjacent 3.5-acre park and is filled with more than 100,000 books + meeting and study rooms, a maker lab, spaces crafted specifically for little ones, a recording studio, and a demonstration kitchen.

True or false: Muhammad Ali’s 1960 Summer Olympics gold medal is at the bottom of the Ohio River.

This is the question we asked in yesterday’s newsletter, and most of you answered “true,” which is correct. After his 1960 Olympic win, Ali was refused service back home at a white-owned restaurant in Louisville. He ran to the Second Street Bridge and flew his gold medal into the Ohio. He was awarded a replacement medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

Derby is already next week, and I have yet to find an outfit for our After Oaks Meet + Greet. A friend suggested checking out The Polka Dotted Pineapple in Shelbyville — but if you have any other boutique suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
